Do I need a referral to visit a podiatrist?
No, you don’t need a referral. However there are occasions where you may be referred by your GP, specialist, or allied health professional.
Is podiatry covered by Medicare?
The answer is sometimes. You may be eligible if your GP has enrolled you in the Enhanced Primary Care program (EPC) and has registered your details with Medicare. On this program patients may be able to claim back a rebate for their podiatry consultation. Eligibility criteria is at your GP’s discretion and is considered if you suffer from a chronic health condition.
Do you bulk bill?
We don’t bulk bill.
If you have a referral from your GP, we have the facilities to claim a Medicare rebate for you at the time of your appointment. You will need to bring your Medicare card with you. Otherwise, we can provide you with a receipt of payment that you can take to Medicare to claim any eligible reimbursement.
Do you have HICAPs?
Yes we do! This allows us to instantly claim your health fund rebate. If covered, you will only have to pay any remaining gap.
Will my health fund cover my podiatrist consultation?
Generally, yes, however this is dependent on the type and level of your cover. It is always best to check with your health fund prior to your consult.
What should I bring to my appointment?
- If you have been referred, please bring your referral letter.
- Any relevant scans such as x-rays, CTs, and MRIs, if you have them.
- Shorts or tracksuit pants can be helpful to wear or bring to change into if required.
- Your main pairs / favourite shoes - sports, work and casual shoes. Don’t buy any new as we can help with recommendations.
